Family Safaris

Family Safaris

A safari in Africa is the ultimate in family vacationing. Apart from unforgettable wildlife encounters and pristine wilderness areas, Africa has the remarkable ability to reconnect families through unique and unforgettable shared experiences. Memories that will be cherished for a lifetime by both young and old.

Our tailormade itineraries offer the finest multigenerational safari experiences across the most desired safari destinations in Africa. We seek out and carefully select lodges that specialize in private and authentic family safari travel from wild and remote African game reserves. Your itinerary will be designed by our team of destination experts, who are parents themselves with a first-hand understanding of family travel needs.

Accommodation will vary from high-end luxury lodges to more rustic bush camps, each offering an array of unique activities and experiences. We will guide you in determining which lodge or camp will best serve the needs of your family and suggest a number of excursions or activities that will further enrich your stay. Choose from rural school visits, cultural village experiences, wildlife animal interactions, game drives and walks, canoeing, horse riding, bush breakfasts on the equator and more! Why not try a quad bike or camel safari?

Contact our team of dedicated travel specialists and we will piece together an extraordinary safari experience for your next family vacation!

 Travel Tips

A general rule of thumb is that children over the age of 8 years are “safari ready”. Many lodges will accommodate younger children on game drives, but keep in mind drives can be in excess of 5 hours. As parents you will also be required to manage noise levels specifically at sightings
Keep children entertained on game drives with their own set of binocular and camera. A few snacks and a note pad with pencil will also come in handy!
Request a private vehicle for your family. If availability allows most lodges will happily arrange this for you
Younger children will enjoy a guided “brumble”. Your safari guide will walk them around the lodge perimeter introducing them to indigenous plants, insects and folklore. The duration of the walk is approximately 45 minutes
Consider Malaria free reserves when planning your family safari. Otherwise speak to your medical practitioner about the necessary precautions specific to your family
Family rooms offer a great base and place for afternoon play. Board games and story telling around the camp fire are other great ways to connect while on safari
