Kembu Cottages

Kembu Cottages is located on an 800-acre farm with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, overlooking the Great Rift Valley. There are nine beautifully appointed cottages available surrounded by lovely scenery.

This high altitude climate means there is no malaria. Clean air and ample space makes for an ideal family visit where children can help feed horses, calves and chickens. There are also numerous day trips available within easy reach of the farm, including Lake Nakuru National Park and Menengai Crater.

Staff are available to do laundry, cleaning and washing up. A babysitting service can also be organized. The enjoyable hours spent exploring the area are made more idyllic knowing there is a warm and inviting base awaiting your return. Take an hour long tour around the general surrounding area of the farm or enjoy some bird watching opportunities.

Beryl’s Cottage

Beryl’s Cottage was the childhood home of early aviator Beryl Markham. It has a double bedroom, a twin bedroom (both en suite) with an open plan lounge with fireplace, kitchen and dining room. A lovely verandah overlooks the Great Rift Valley.

Cedar Cottage

Cedar Cottage has two bedrooms off an open plan kitchen, dining, lounge area. A spacious verandah overlooks a private garden. The larger social area in Cedar Cottage makes it an ideal choice for family groups using it in conjunction with another cottage.

Kenana Cottage

Kenana Cottage, designed with a modern yet colonial style fitting with the rest of Kembu’s cottage accommodation. Two bedrooms, an open plan kitchen, and lounge with brick fire place and a spacious verandah with great views of the Rift Valley.

Albizia Cottage

Albizia Cottage, built during the late twenties, has been restored back to a rustic self-catering holiday home. A well-equipped kitchen, a lounge with a cozy fireplace and a spacious verandah, 1 double bedroom, and one with 2 single beds.

Mutati Cottage

A compact kitchen, a lounge with a cozy fireplace, and a verandah (great in the morning sunshine) make for a homely setting. The upstairs master bedroom boasts an elevated, 180 degree view, across the Rift Valley from its own private verandah.

Acacia Cottage

Acacia Cottage is perfect for a couple wanting to get away for the weekend and enjoy the tranquility of a country lifestyle. This romantic relaxing retreat has a cozy conservatory overlooking a wide spacious lawn. 1 double bed (2 pax)

Cobbs Carriage

Cobbs Carriage – Powys Cobb converted this Mvuli hardwood railway carriage to a caravan in the late ’20’s – it is now retired to its own corner of the campsite. Tastefully modernized with electricity, outhouse bathroom, & covered cooking and picnic areas.

Tree House

The Tree House is a quaint double en suite surrounded by a huge bougonvillea, and suits those who enjoy the informal nature of the campsite. Appreciate the elevated view from the luxury of your double bed or private veranda.

Camping

Kembu Campsite appeals to groups who enjoy their own personal space and privacy within a well landscaped garden. It has all the creature comforts you could want when camping, including luxurious long-drops, hot showers, a great bar and excellent staff.
